More than 15 years ago, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Emergency Physicians joined forces to develop the highly regarded Advanced Pediatric Life Support program, or APLS. Today APLS: The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Resource is an advancement in presenting the information physicians need to assess and care for critically ill and injured children during the first few hours in the emergency department or office-based setting. This long-term resource provides emergency physicians, pediatricians, and all other health care professionals with a complete body of knowledge in pediatric emergency medicine. Each chapter, or "module" of education, is case based and covers the key elements of assessment, diagnosis, testing, treatment, and disposition. Each chapter also includes references, helpful tables and charts, photographs and illustrations, and multiple-choice CME questions to test the reader's knowledge. Book jacket.
