Includes immigrants from Guyana and Bermuda, the Caribbean population enumerated in the 1981 Census numbered 211,205, of whom the largest groups were the Jamaicans (78,000) and the Haitians (27,000). They were a diverse population in terms of ethnicity, reflecting British, French, Afro- Caribbean and Asian ancestry. The publication compares the characteristics of this population with respect to age, sex, education and ethnic origin; with that of the Canadian population and other immigrants, and measures their economic success.
