British Spas from 1815 to the Present

This work is a continuation of the historical study begun by Phyllis Hembry in The English Spa 1560 to 1815. The authors have carried her account into the present period and extended the coverage to include spas throughout the British Isles. They have retained an emphasis upon the social background in which the spas flourished and declined before the modern period.
