"Fearless Presence" chronicles the career of Lt. Col. Nola Forrest, a spirited woman, who served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps (ANC) for more than twenty years. She was director of Army nurses for the entire Southwest Pacific Area during World War II, and was decorated with the Bronze Star and commended for her successful rescue of 67 Army nurses held in a Japanese POW camp. Substantiated by personal interviews and a wealth of secondary sources, "Fearless Presence" reads as authentically as if readers were reliving the dramatic events themselves.
