From Introduction - Acupuncture and moxibustion therapeutic methods created and developed by the Chinese people through their labor and struggle against disease, have a time-honored history. Thy can be traced as far back as the Stone Age. In the Shang Dynasty bronze needles became possible. In the Ming Dynasty the physician Yang Chi-chous summarized the works of acupuncture from ancient times. At present acupuncture anesthesia can be applied to various complicated operations. New types of acupuncture treatment have been discovered by medical works and have proved effective in curing many diseases once thought incurable.
