It has a whimsical rhythmic and rhyming text and even though this book is about squirrels it is dedicated to chameleons.
To send messages, chameleons change colors and patterns to get their message across to other chameleons.
Calm chameleons can turn green. An excited chameleon might turn red. Some chameleons produce a whole variety of colors like reds, yellows, pinks, greens, blues, and browns just like all the all the colors and patterns in this book.
And it's amazing how many nuts trees produce, all that free food! It's pretty cool to be a squirrel.
And yet how in the world did this little squirrel get a name like Not Not?His friends would ask why his Mama didn't name him something better like Yes Yes?"
Could it be because squirrels don't know how to spell?
One day some friends surprised them with a visit when they knocked on the knot knocker by their door.
They decided to have a party.
Only problem was they ran out of party food. Oh no.
They said, "Do you know?
We saw lots of nuts on the ground below."
He said,
"I'm a flying squirrel. Quite like a kite.
Might you like to take a flight?"
But they all climbed on anyway and flew on down.
"And when they had a chance,
they would land upon a branch.
and shake it all around.
They made the nuts fall on the ground."
Their party turned into a picnic. And what a picnic they had!
We never know when a bright idea will save the day when we let it.
