Old Chapel and the Parish in Clarke County, Virginia

Frederick Parish was established in 1738 and covered a large area which included present-day Clarke County. In 1866 Cunningham Chapel Parish was divided from Frederick Parish and was within the boundaries of Clarke County. It included Old Chapel as well as Christ Church in Millwood, Virginia, and Emmanuel Chapel.
