Pierre Alechinsky, post Cobra shows about 90 works spanning five decades from this last living and working Cobra artist. Pierre Alechinsky (born Brussels, 1927) worked in his studio in Bougival (near Paris) and Provence (not far from Arles) on painted and graphic works with a lyrical and evocative character, many of which show the influence of Eastern calligraphy. The paintings and drawings are linked to diverse sources of inspiration, such as travel, remarks and dreams. Pierre Alechinsky has had previous museum solo retrospective shows in Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris (1975); Guggenheim Museum, New York (1987) and the Koninklijke Musea voor Schone Kunsten, Brussels (2007), among others.
