How Effective are Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention and Treatment Programs?

This report provides a critical evaluation of health promotion, early intervention, and treatment/rehabilitation approaches published in the international literature. In each of these areas, the report provides a brief overview of the programs being delivered in Canada and integrates the findings from a number of Canadian evaluation studies into the larger international literature. Some limitations are identified that seem to be restricting the practice of program evaluation within the field.
