MARY FRANCES "FRANNIE" WALKER FURLOW was born on October 8th, 1923 in Ramer, AL. At the age of 93, Frannie has an incredible memory and many inspiring stories from her lifetime. The Walker Family moved to Massillon, OH to escape prejudice in southern Alabama. When Frannie was seven, she tragically lost both of her parents to heart failure. Though she spent her childhood years staying with different family members, by age fourteen, Frannie was on her own. In her memoir, Joy Comes In The Morning, Frannie recalls her trials and triumphs and how she obtained a peace of mind despite her darkest moments and memories. Frannie credits her resilient strength to her faith in God, as well as the fact that she is a strong, independent, black woman. ISABEL KATHRYN THOTTAM is a writer from Canton, Ohio who has known Frannie since she was three days old. Frannie is Isabel's biggest role model and she felt compelled to help Frannie share her story with the world because she is an inspiration for women everywhere. Even if you don't know Frannie personally, this book will have you laughing, crying, and hoping that you can be as positive and aware as Frannie in your old age.
