Homicide Investigator Lucinda Pierce is physically and emotionally scarred by her job. Having lost an eye and her looks in a domestic violence call, she has just recently been cleared of wrongdoing at a crime scene where a chid was killed by her bullet. She is angry and bitter, but she is also a dogged detective whose life is her work. Lucinda gets sent to investigate the brutal killing of Dr Kathleen Spencer, a crime discovered by Dr Spencer's eight-year-old daughter Charley whilst the enigmatic and mysterious husband was out of town. When there seem to be links with other dead women, could it be the work of a serial killer? And will Lucinda be able to solve it or has she become too emotionally involved this time?
