The two curators have fruitfully collaborated to carry out a scientific profile operation based on a careful bibliographic survey that records the most recent critical interventions in the cards drawn up with precise classification criteria. The filers, for their part, have willingly accepted the challenge of updating in a relatively short time the wealth of information of the catalog cards owned by the Foundation, with technically flawless comments and also appreciable in writing, so much so that you can enjoy reading of the cards themselves as a collection of micro-essays that offer a specific contribution to the history of art and collecting. The two curators and catalogers also conducted an extensive campaign of investigations in order to arrive at more detailed dates, making many changes and acquisitions. The re-reading of all the works, the bibliographic updating and the archival research have also allowed some reasoned changes in attribution. Just to cite a few examples: Guendalina Serafinelli traced the Blessed Felice da Cantalice to Giacinto Boccanera and to Alessandro Vaselli the Sant'Agostino in the study already attributed to Giacinto Brandi, while Alessandro Spila returned to Giuseppe Barberi, based on a note in the diary by the sculptor Vincenzo Pacetti, the canvas with the View of the new Sacristy of San Pietro previously believed to be by Carlo Marchionni. The publication of this catalog, thanks to its scientific rigor and an excellent set of images, offers a tool for study and knowledge that reveals the complete and original physiognomy of the Art Collection of the Rome Foundation. This far-sighted initiative, promoted by Professor Emanuele, is naturally intended for specialists, but also for the wider public of visitors, to illustrate a set of works of certain cultural interest for the history of Rome and for the history of art in general.
