How Modern Polymath Works

Master the big ideas from 7 transformative books in one week. Ask questions to prove your learning, earn Curiosity Points, and compete on the global leaderboard.

Step 1

Join the 7-Day Sprint

Each week, we curate 7 transformative books across philosophy, psychology, business, and science. One book per day, designed to expand your mind and connect ideas across disciplines.

Past sprints: Atomic Habits, Thinking Fast and Slow, Meditations, Sapiens...

Step 2

Read the Daily Summary

Spend 15 minutes with each book's high-fidelity summary. We distill the core thesis, key frameworks, and one critical insight that captures the book's essence.

Every summary includes the synthesis + a memorable key quote to anchor learning.

Step 3

Ask a Question to Prove Learning

Here's the twist: instead of quizzes, you ask questions. The depth of your question reveals how deeply you understood the material. Surface questions score 100 points, moderate 250+, deep questions 500+.

Questions like "How would I apply this to my startup?" score higher than "Who wrote this?"

Step 4

Take the End-of-Week Quiz

After 7 days of questions, test your retention with a knowledge quiz. Questions are drawn from the books you've explored. Each correct answer adds 100 points to your Curiosity Score.

The quiz validates that your questions reflected real understanding.

Step 5

Climb the Leaderboard

Your Curiosity Score is the sum of question depth points + quiz points. Compete with other learners globally. Top performers earn badges, streaks, and recognition.

Maintain a 7-day streak for bonus multipliers.

How Scoring Works

Ⅰ

Surface Question

Basic recall of facts. (e.g., "Who wrote this book?" or "What year was this published?")

~100 Points
Ⅱ

Moderate Question

Comparative or analytical. (e.g., "How does this thesis conflict with common wisdom?")

~250 Points
Ⅲ

Deep Question

Personal application or complex synthesis. (e.g., "How would I apply this framework to solve X in my current career?")

~500 Points
✓

End-of-Week Quiz Bonus

Validate your learning by answering specific knowledge questions at the end of the 7-day sprint.

+100 Points per answer

Tips for Deep Questions

  • Connect the book to your own life or work. Personal context scores highest.
  • Compare ideas across books or disciplines. "How does this relate to X?"
  • Ask about practical application. "How would I implement this?"
  • Explore "why" and "what if" scenarios. These show deeper thinking.
  • Longer, more specific questions tend to score higher. Be detailed!

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the sprint take?

About 15-20 minutes per day. Read the summary (10 min), ask your question (5 min), and you're done. The quiz at the end of the week takes about 5 minutes.

How is my question scored?

Our AI analyzes question depth: personal context, comparative thinking, practical application, "why" questions, and "what if" scenarios all earn bonus points. Longer, more thoughtful questions score higher.

Do I need to read the full books?

No! The summaries are designed to give you the key insights in 15 minutes. However, many learners find themselves wanting to read the full books afterward.

Can I participate without an account?

Yes, you can browse all summaries and ask questions locally. But to save your progress, appear on the leaderboard, and earn badges, you'll need to sign up.

What happens if I miss a day?

No problem! You can catch up anytime during the sprint. However, maintaining consecutive days builds your streak, which gives you bonus multipliers.

How are the books selected?

Our editorial team curates books that span disciplines and complement each other. Each sprint has a loose theme (e.g., "Decision Making," "Understanding Yourself," "The Future").
